Welcome to The HR Lady podcast with Wendy Sellers! In this long episode (sorry), we delve into “Five Ways Our Employees Drive Us Crazy and What to Do About It.” Before diving into the main topic, Wendy presents eye-opening statistics on the cost of poor leadership, highlighting productivity losses, turnover, and customer satisfaction declines.
So what are the Five Ways Our Employees Drive Us Crazy?
1 – Employees don’t listen. We are human beings, not robots – so there is not “one solution” to the question: how do we get our people to listen? We kick off this series discussing communication strategies for managers. Half the battle of getting people to listen to us is learning how to communicate with them (not at them).
2 – Employees make so many mistakes. Again, osmosis and mind reading is not a thing with human beings. We will dive into training and development methods in order to remove as many mistakes from the workplace as possible.
3 – Employees have no common sense. Expecting miracles and the acquisition of skill via osmosis is ridiculous. Today, we will discuss using skills assessments to properly align individual candidates and employees into the right job.
4 – Employees have an entitlement mentality. A safe workplace, decent wages and mutual respect is not entitlement. In this session, we will openly discuss both manager expectations as well as employee expectations.
5 – Employees just don’t care. Would you care about someone (or a company) that did not care about you? The days of “just do what I say or you won’t have a job” are long hone (and good riddens)! People at all levels of the org chart expect more from their employers. We will discuss effective employee engagement in order to get stuff done.
Tune in for practical insights and strategies to improve your leadership and create a more harmonious workplace!
Have an awesome day, Wendy!
