The HR Lady®

Speaker, Trainer, Mentor, HR Consultant, Author

Wendy Sellers knows human resources, management and leadership! As a speaker, trainer, mentor, HR consultant, and author, she has been guiding companies from 5 – 5,000 employees for ~30 years. While many people in HR and leadership stick to safe, dry language, she leans into a bold “no-nonsense” brand.

  • Two Master’s (HR & Healthcare Administration) + many HR certifications. She even taught the SHRM prep course! Her policies & practices stand up in court (but let’s avoid taking that route).
  • Author of several HR / management books (including “Suck It Up, Buttercup: Be a Leader People Will Follow”), keynote speaker and host of two podcasts – HR Empowerment Podcast and (the award-winning) The HR Lady Podcast which have merged into one.
  • Wendy has been highlighted in USA Today & International Business Times, as well as a guest on Forbes Author podcasts (and many more).
  • Certified in Workplace Investigations & DiSC personality profiling. A Dale Carnegie graduate in leadership and empathy—because those things matter.
  • Industry experiences range from Architecture, Engineering, Construction & Manufacturing to Agriculture, Retail, Housing Authorities, Government Agencies, Non-Profits, Dental & Medical Practices, Restaurants & more.

Wendy prioritizes practical, transformative training, development and mentoring that actually improve workplace culture, rather than just checking a compliance box She also conducts company-wide needs assessments, allowing organizations to identify gaps, prioritize improvements, and gather actionable insights.

Becoming The HR Lady®

After earning her undergrad and master’s in healthcare administration in Northeastern PA, she moved to Florida —unsure of what exactly that would be.  A recruiter offered her an HR role at a small architectural engineering firm. That small firm expanded globally, and she grew right along with it—thanks to great leadership and countless learning opportunities.

Though her degrees didn’t teach her how to handle people, they equipped her for compliance and critical thinking. She later earned another master’s degree, this time in human resources and several HR certifications (some more useful than others).

Nearly 30 years later, she has trained supervisors, led HR departments, and advised organizations of all sizes—from startups to global enterprises—across industries like healthcare (small and large medical companies), technology, manufacturing, agriculture, general contractors, construction, higher ed, on-demand education, and more.

Wendy Sellers believes that people are a company’s greatest asset. That’s why she focus on both the compliance and the human side of HR—empowering managers to lead confidently from hiring to termination.

Diversity Statement: The HR Lady will not work with any company that intentionally discriminates or does not pay employees at market rate. Additionally, if your management team is predominantly white, and able-bodied, males – she can help you change that through training programs and committee initiatives. Otherwise, we will not be able to work together.  Ready for change? Let’s connect!
