Honored To Receive The Hammer Award: Volunteer, Give Back, Provide a Hand Up!
I’m incredibly honored to receive the Hammer Award from CareerSource Polk.
Named in honor of founding board member Marvin Hammer, this annual award recognizes a board member or community partner who dedicates significant personal time and effort to advancing workforce development in our community.
For me, though, this recognition is also a reminder of something I strongly believe:
🎯 We all need to help each other more.
🎯 Life is short. Careers take unexpected turns. People lose jobs, struggle to find opportunities, need new skills, or simply need someone to believe in them and open a door.
🎯 Sometimes, one connection, one conversation, one opportunity, or one person willing to help can change someone’s direction entirely.
I’ve always believed people don’t necessarily need a handout—they need a hand up. A chance. A connection. Some guidance. An opportunity to show what they can do. If we’re fortunate enough to be in a position to help someone else move forward, we should.
