SHRM’s reputation has been destroyed, indefinitely.

I have so much to say on this…to be short, I will summarize:

SHRM’s reputation has been destroyed, indefinitely. The (not exactly leader) head cheese did that over the past few years, in addition to this lawsuit and several others pending.

I was very involved with SHRM until I taught the SHRM certification prep course pre-pandemic at a local community college in Florida and that is when I finally realized what a scam the cert and the organization was/is. It started out with good intentions but became about money (shocker).

SHRM (the so-called-authority on everything HR) was sued by an instructional designer who said she was racially discriminated against by a white supervisor and faced retaliation for complaining to management. She raised concerns about racial discrimination and retaliation with HR & leadership (the CEO is quite an a$$hole).

SHRM lost big time to the tune of $11.5M 💰.

My advice:

✅ Do continue self-education, but there is no need to focus on “organizational credits” although HRCI is also a great option to get certified with.

✅ Document your courses or other activities (for your resume/ LinkedIn).

✅ Get training program with certificates – not necessarily a certification program, just literally a certificate which most in-person and online courses provide

My Insider Access with The HR Lady® LMS, a “fast-tracked” online training – provide certificates.
