Trust, Respect, Clarity: The Three Ingredients Managers Need To Recruit And Retain Talent

Copy of Trust Respect Clarity

I’m absolutely thrilled to share my invaluable insights in the International Business Times, where we get down to the nitty-gritty of trust, respect, and clarity in the workplace. In this article, I break down the game-changing need for proper manager training to better recruit, engage, and retain talent, especially in the face of turnover chaos and worker shortages.

Let’s face it—managers are floundering, trying to connect with and guide their teams. But it’s not their fault.

>>>>>> Businesses have been putting people in managerial roles without proper training, and let’s be honest, the state of the American labor market is only making this problem worse.

In 2022, a staggering 50.6 million U.S. workers quit—an all-time high. The trend has only slightly slowed in 2023, with a 2.5% annual quit rate. To put that into perspective, 3.5 million people quit just in July. And guess what? Poor management practices are only going to make that number spike even higher.

So what does that mean for your company? If you want to thrive, especially in a volatile market, you need to provide your managers with the training, tools, and support they need to actually handle the responsibility of these roles.

Let me say it loud and clear: management training changes everything.

“Before the pandemic, companies were already struggling with management training, I point out in the article. But post-COVID? The landscape has become a battleground with worker shortages and sky-high turnover rates, all of which are damaging what companies can offer the market and their employees.”

Now, I’m not saying training can solve every reason employees leave.

But a well-trained manager is in a unique position to connect employee desires and company goals, making your organization not just sustainable but also more profitable.

When businesses invest in robust management training, onboarding, and feedback systems, the payoff isn’t just in the workplace—it’s in your bottom line, too. To avoid seeing turnover rates soar and employee engagement crash, management training has to be a priority.

After all, your employees are your greatest asset. Let’s not overlook that.
