Wendy Sellers, known as "The HR Lady®," is a dedicated business partner, HR consultant, speaker, and trainer who specializes in understanding the unique culture and goals of organizations. With a focus on building effective HR policies, employee training, and management courses, she tailors her services to suit each client's specific needs. Check out the article in USA Today.
Wendy's expertise stems from personal experience, as she entered the field of HR without a clear plan and faced numerous challenges along the way. This has made her authentic, transparent, and results-oriented, with a commitment to providing practical solutions without hidden agendas. She is The HR Lady®: Realistic, Honest, and Reliable.
With over 25 years of experience, Wendy has worked in many HR areas such as operations, downsizing, change management, corporate culture, remote and in-person workplaces, coaching, training, HR education, and leadership development. She has served businesses of all sizes, ranging from local startups to global enterprises, across diverse industries including healthcare, dental, professional services, technology, manufacturing, construction, engineering, higher education, federal contractors, public safety, non-profit, and government agencies.
Wendy's straightforward style means she doesn't sugar-coat things. She believes that people are a company's greatest asset and should be treated as such. That means training and empowering managers, supervisors, and employees to be successful in their roles is not an option, it is mandatory. Wendy Sellers, The HR Lady, trains administrators on HR compliance and managers on the rest: the people part, from hiring to termination.
I desire to be the change I want to see in this world. I speak up and challenge the status quo. I ask controversial questions. I am passionate about giving back and educating others on not only leadership but day-to-day management of human beings - aka: "HR Reality - no BS here".
The road to becoming The HR Lady ®:
After completing my undergraduate degree early and then my Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration in Northeastern PA, I headed to the Sunshine State (Florida) to start my career. I just wasn’t sure what that meant yet because I was not at all thrilled with the slow pace of healthcare administration. I was in an elevator with my paper resume in hand headed to an interview when a woman got in and asked if I could do HR. I told her I probably could figure it out. Well, it turns out she was a recruiter and had a role for me at a small architectural engineering firm in the Orlando area. Let me tell you that those two degrees did not prepare me for dealing with employees, however, they did prepare me for a boatload of compliance nightmares and critical thinking. I eventually went back to school (again) to get a Master’s in Human Resources and then a handful of HR-related certifications and licensures too (some were actually useful).
That small firm grew organically and then through mergers and acquisitions across the nation and eventually the world. I was fortunate enough to have an amazing set of leaders there that allowed me to grow.
I now have more than 25 years of experience in supervisor & manager training, HR education, leadership development, HR operations, corporate culture, recruiting, downsizing, change management, strategy, and coaching. I offer Management Training, HR Advice, and Tools to Attract and Retain People: Your people are my business.
My additional experience has been acquired through experience in companies of different categories, sizes, and ownership types - including for-profits, non-profits, government agencies, and defense contractors. My goal is to guide your company through periods of change using uncomplicated training, advisory services, and easy-to-access HR products.
My vision is "To help leaders create successful companies that employees do not desperately want a vacation from". I desire to be the change I want to see in this world. I speak up and challenge the status quo. I ask controversial questions.
I am a supporter of Human Rights, Veterans & Homelessness initiatives. It only takes one person to make a difference! PS: My first professional job was as an intern at an Adult Day Care and that was a cakewalk compared to HR - where adults think HR is their day care center. Now I teach managers to manage, not run to HR.
In addition to her formal education (Master's in Human Resources, and Master's in Health Care Administration), Wendy has been certified with many monikers including the SPHR and SHRM-SCP certifications (she also taught the course), Certified Internal Investigation Administrator, a DiSC certified personality style trainer, health/life insurance licensed, a Dale Carnegie course graduate, and is also an active and past board member and volunteer for multiple non-profits.

Tech Rage IT has been a client of Wendy Sellers for several years and will remain one for many more. Her wealth of expertise and knowledge in the HR industry has played a significant role in the growth of our company, in establishing a culture we love and in the wellness and happiness of our staff. Her top priority for her clients is their success and she truly becomes a member of your leadership team. We appreciate that she educates us on best practices & explains all of our options so we can make educated decisions instead of telling us what to do.
My employees were not communicating well with each other and things got to a crisis point where two wanted to quit. I had met Wendy years ago and was impressed. I called her for HR advice, she met with my staff, had several management training sessions (on DiSC personality styles). We got all the issues on the table, had fun, and improved communication. My staff is happy, morale is high, and we are finally working as a team, which in turn makes me and my patients happy. I highly recommend her.
Thank you for the informative classes. I found your teaching style engaging and effective. I look forward to reviewing all of the resources you have given us, and to continuing to learn from you. I learned so much from the course and from the other interactions with the other attendees.

On the topic of human behavior & communication, Suck it up Buttercup nails it! Wendy points out the most commonly overlooked flaws people make. She gives examples I know I was able to relate to (many were similar to experiences I’ve had) and points out where most mistakes were made. She also gives great examples of how interactions should have gone to get better results. -Chris W
Wendy helped redefine our interview/hiring process, employee review & evaluation process, organized benefit committees, corporate HR events, and was open and honest in all our discussions and interactions. Her book has opened my eyes in more ways than one. After receiving her book only weeks ago, I have already implemented ways to become a better leader. I have learned to drop my guard aka "pride" allowing my employees to be more open and willing to share. I have also increased my clientele tremendously with some of the tools she has shared. The leadership concepts in the book “Suck It Up, Buttercup” really resonated with me as a fast-paced, direct leader myself. T
he manner in which Wendy Sellers delivers these leadership concepts is so simple that I had to kick myself for not making these realizations before. I bought a copy for each of my managers to read and discuss.

The HR Lady will not work with any company that intentionally discriminates or does not pay employees at market rate. Additionally, if your management team is predominantly white, and able-bodied, males - I can help you change that through training programs and committee initiatives. Otherwise, we will not be able to work together. Ready for change? Let's connect!
